Hein Cooper ‘The Weatherman’ Exclusive

Hein Cooper recently make an amazing new track with Yuin elder Uncle Noel Butler called ‘The Weatherman’.

With ‘The Weatherman’ recently dropped on Thursday, November 24th, it’s still quickly growing in streams and shares. We got an exclusive look into Hein’s top 5 unexpected writing tips and we’re so stoked to share them with you.

1. Don’t ‘try’ to write something interesting. Catch yourself when you’re thinking about something that feels deep/real and then write it down. Don’t try to rhyme it, or even imagine the music. Just capture the concept or feeling. Then open that up to melody, story and music after.

2. Write 50 songs . I did it earlier this year, and came up with much more quality than I anticipated. The flow is bound to rise. In one week I wrote back to back 4 songs that I think will all be on my next album. All the other songs were worth it to have one week of gold

3. Play covers, all the greatest songs have secrets! Learn the songs and dissect those secrets.

4. Do less drugs! There’s this illusion that in order to write crazy music you need to be out of your mind. I’m not completely denouncing this as I’ve used substances in the past to help with creativity, but over using and abusing because you think you need it to write ‘dark side of the moon’ is just not true. Our minds are already there with the right habits and perspective.

5. Choose your council very carefully. Too many chefs in the kitchen is a real thing. It’s easy to get lost in other people’s perspective. Sometimes it’s better to walk away and forget about the song then come back to it rather show it to a bunch of people because you’re unsure and seeking validation.

The Weatherman is now available and streaming on all music platforms! Give it a listen and add it to your everyday playlist :)
